Monster of the Month Club: A Plush Making Workshop

Each workshop will focus on a different Texas cryptid, monster, or cool critter created from reused and upcycled materials from SCRAP. Pre-made patterns will be provided, though students who have the skills can make their own if they desire. Students choose fabric and embellishments to create a plush version of the Monster of the Month. This workshop is geared to a variety of skill levels.
Students who already have some experience with sewing could use a machine and make a more complicated monster plush. Those without any sewing experience can hand sew and keep embellishments simpler, but still come away with an awesome product.
All ages are welcome, but children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
If you sign up for all four workshops you will get a 20% discount.

Booth 72- Across from the pumpkin patch

Dallas PorchFest is a festival celebrating music, the arts, and food on the front porches and yards of the beautiful homes located in the Peak’s Addition neighborhood; It’s a day marked to bring together the greater Dallas community, in support of local musicians, artists, and cuisine, while raising money to improve and beautify the neighborhood (sidewalk repairs, tree plantings, etc.).

The idea for PorchFest was conceived in Ithaca, NY in 2007. In its short life, PorchFest has become a grassroots movement sweeping across the nation in neighborhoods from coast-to-coast. PorchFest is a pleasant personal reminder, to those who experience its simple joy, of Time’s Past – when neighbors would greet one another and interact on/from their porches (one might say porches were the “social media” of the past).

We feel strongly that people, their talents, their diversity, and their benevolence exemplifies what makes our community unique. And there is no greater thread than music, art, and food — shared on the front porches throughout our neighborhood — to bind us all together!
